Forms of Fear

Sometimes there are parts of us that hides in the shadows of our awareness. We call these parts fears. They feel un-named, untamed, and they have no face, but they are desperately trying to be seen and heard by us. They talk in ways that defies the outcome of our goals, because we ignore them. The more we try to get rid of them the more they become like heavy chains we drag behind us imposing heavy weights that constrain our accomplishments.
These fears refuse to be buried without being recognized as part of you. They refuse to die or dissipate without being given a name.
How do we do that?
Start by noticing where or what you struggle with. That is where we begin to make peace with our inner shadows. Notice what fear lies in this struggle? Give it a name. It may be failure or poverty or ignorance. It may be loneliness, rage or not being enough, or good enough. It may be to be unloved, guilt, loss, pain, or taking on too much responsibility. It may be to not find any meaning in life. It may be change that you fear or being controlled. It may be boredom or being confined. It may be a fear of conflict.
Whatever that fear, Name it for what it is. Then go deeper. What lies below that fear; underneath its name is another name. And what lies underneath that one and under that one, and so on till you come to the essence of your fear; the true raw quality of the ignored part of you. It is time to look it in the face, see its existence clearly and welcome it back into your awareness. It is part of you. It serves a good purpose. It brings a gift. What possible gift can a fear bring you think?
The gift in the fear, when acknowledged, lies in the clarity or your humanness and your human struggle. You are not alone in this human struggle; it is the human condition. But we do not exist only on a human level. We are spiritual beings. Therefore, the purpose of our fears is to remind us to re-connect with our Divine part, the Source of love, within us which our human side has disconnected from. Fear is a reminder of who you are and where your wholeness lies. To name your deepest truth is to know where our strength and gifts lie; in the Light and Love where we come from. Next I will give you an example of how to deal with a fear.
